Daniel Murrie, Ph.D.
Director of Psychology, ILPPP | Professor, UVA Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences
Dr. Murrie oversees the ILPPP’s state-wide training programs in forensic evaluation and postdoctoral fellowships in forensic psychology. As a clinician, he performs forensic evaluations in criminal and civil cases through the ILPPP’s Forensic Psychiatry Clinic, including evaluations addressing capital mitigation, competence, sanity, violence risk, sexual offending, and civil issues such as emotional injury.
Sharon Kelley, J.D., Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Kelley’s clinical work includes conducting forensic evaluations with adults and juveniles examining a range of criminal and civil psycholegal issues. Her unique background combining law and psychology provides valuable insights into complex legal and psychological intersections.
Scott D. Bender, Ph.D., ABPP-CN
Board-Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist | Associate Professor of Psychiatry & Neurobehavioral Science
Dr. Bender teaches residents and postdoctoral fellows, and conducts both criminal and civil neuropsychological evaluations for the ILPPP and Neurocognitive Assessment Laboratory. His expertise in neuropsychological assessment provides critical insights into cognitive functioning in legal contexts.
Sara E. Boyd, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist | ILPPP Postdoctoral Fellowship Alumna
Dr. Boyd completed her forensic psychology postdoctoral fellowship at the ILPPP and currently conducts evaluations while providing training for mental health professionals on forensic psychology topics. Her primary focus is forensic psychological evaluation in civil and criminal matters.
Elisha Agee, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Agee performs forensic evaluations through ILPPP’s Forensic Psychiatry Clinic and at Western State Hospital. Her evaluations include competence, sanity, violence risk, mitigation, and sexual offending assessments for both adults and juveniles.
Heather Zelle, J.D., Ph.D.
Licensed Attorney & Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Zelle brings a unique dual perspective as both a licensed attorney and clinical psychologist. Her clinical work includes conducting forensic assessments examining psycholegal issues such as competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and capacity to waive Miranda rights.

Xuemei oversees the Forensic Clinic’s business office operations, including contract management and invoicing. Her expertise ensures smooth administrative operations that support our clinical and research mission.
